My mother was healed of consumption many years ago through Christian Science; the doctors had pronounced her case incurable. Later she had class instruction, which proved to be of great benefit to her in the years that followed.

My parents moved to a community in the Middle West and homesteaded during the early days of the covered wagon. There were no other students of Christian Science, and the practitioner my parents had called upon lived many miles away. My mother's pioneer courage and her faith in God during those days remain a light on my path. The Bible and the writings of our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, were constant companions in our home.

I should like to express my gratitude for the privilege of attending the Annual Meeting of The Mother Church in June, 1955. This was my first trip to Boston, Massachusetts, and the blessings it brought me were many. It is impossible to describe the deep love I felt for our Leader the first time I entered the original edifice of The Mother Church. From early childhood I had had a great desire to see this Church with its beautiful stained glass windows. The entire experience is beyond description. I felt so close to God.
