REMOVING THE TAGS

The tendency of mankind today is to tag the individual. Some nations issue social security and old-age numbers, and in industry the employee is frequently tagged and numbered. Material science tags all men as constituted of material atoms and elements; scholastic theology tags them as descendants of two allegorical characters—Adam and Eve; and material medicine accepts the common view that they are subject to mental and physical ills, to birth and death.

The tag which mankind has placed on all men is the false claim that man is mortal, has a material body, and is constituted of good and evil. It is this tag which has held mankind in bondage for centuries and which Christ Jesus came to eliminate by claiming and demonstrating man's true and eternal birthright as the son of God.

That we too are the sons of God and are therefore untouched by the tags of material limitation was proclaimed by the Apostle Paul, who said (Rom. 8:15, 16): "Ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God."
