"PUT ON THE ARMOUR OF LIGHT"

[Of Special Interest to Children]

Many , many years ago soldiers wore armor to protect themselves from the enemy. Their armor was very heavy, for it was made of metal. Christian Scientists have an armor, too. Our armor is not heavy, because it is not material. We cannot see it or touch it, for it is the spiritual understanding of God.

We learn from the Bible about a boy named David who knew how to use the armor of light. This boy was a shepherd. Several times while he was taking care of the sheep, he had to use the armor of light. One time a lion came to harm the sheep, and another time it was a bear.

Both times David knew that God was present, and this trust in Him gave him strength to kill the bear and the lion in order to protect his flock. Then later when a giant called Goliath challenged the Israelites to send out a man to meet him in combat, David said that he would go out and fight him.
