LIFE ABUNDANT

It is clear from a study of the Scriptures that man has a consciousness which exists in eternal Life. It is equally clear that because consciousness is the reflection of divine Life it must live forever. Christ Jesus came to introduce mortals to the living spiritual consciousness. He said (John 10:10), "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."

Abundant life, demonstrated in rich and rewarding experiences, is the gift of God. If life seems to be dull, monotonous, or frail, the abundance of life in Christ has not been realized. Christian Science provides ample proof that a fresh and unending sense of life can be ours.

The abundant life of which Jesus spoke must imply much more than merely a sense of continued existence. The continuity of a material sense of life unaccompanied by the awareness of ideas cannot be considered the life which our Master referred to. Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Unity of Good" (p.42), "With Christ, Life was not merely a sense of existence, but a sense of might and ability to subdue material conditions."
