With all my heart I thank God for Christian Science. For many years I was so ill that I thought it necessary to take six to eight pills every day in order to live at all. I was suffering from inflammation of the kidneys and was subject to heart attacks. In addition, I had a goiter, and several doctors had advised me to have an operation for the removal of it.

The operation was performed, and I expected that my health would improve. Unfortunately that was not the case. One of the doctors who had advised the operation told me that the thyroid gland no longer functioned adequately. I was obliged to take so many different kinds of medicine that I hardly knew in what order they were to be taken. There was no improvement. I was getting wearier and more miserable all the time, and in addition to my other difficulties, I was troubled with stubborn constipation.

In my great distress a neighbor who had witnessed my condition and wanted to help me called my attention to Christian Science. I went to see a practitioner, who gave me treatment. After my first interview with her I threw all my medicines away and relied wholly and exclusively on God and on Christian Science. Although the doctors had told me that I must remain under constant medical treatment and that I could not live without the various medicines which had been prescribed for me, I was never again afraid, not even for a moment.
