I have received many blessings and healings during the more than twenty-five years I have studied Christian Science, but the greatest blessing of all has been the understanding of God as our loving Father-Mother, all-powerful and ever-present, and of our heritage as His beloved children, subject only to good.

I had a beautiful healing through this understanding several years ago, and I have never ceased to be grateful for it. During a grass fire on a hill near our home, a fireman asked me to hose the roof of our house. The coil of hose was heavier than I had expected, and under the weight I stepped back into a large roll of heavy, rusty building wire used to reinforce cement floors. Two prongs of this wire made a deep three-cornered cut on my ankle.

Though there were several people standing near, no one noticed the incident, and I was able to go quietly into the house and telephone a Christian Science practitioner to help me. I returned to the yard with no sense of pain or fear and hosed the roof.
