I am very grateful for the help I have received since coming into Christian Science. Some time ago I decided that I would take out an endowment insurance policy as a form of saving. The insurance company required that I be medically examined. This examination was carried out by local doctor, who afterwards informed me that my blood pressure was very high and that I was suffering from diabetes. He asked that I be examined by a specialist at the hospital.

On leaving his office I clung steadfastly to a statement from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 378), which was in that week's Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly, "Disease is less than mind, and Mind can control it." This was a comforting and sustaining thought, and it helped me to reject completely the medical testimony. Help was lovingly given by a Christian Science practitioner, and I went for examination by the specialist. Two examinations over a period of a month convinced him that I was completely healed.

The insurance company then offered me the policy I wished if I would agree to certain restrictive clauses. I replied that since I was entirely free, there was no justification for restrictive clauses. I was then asked to submit to a further examination by the company's own specialist. This I did, and he confirmed the report of the other examinations: that I was in excellent health. As a result, the insurance company accepted me as 100 per cent fit.
