THE SECOND APPEARING

The Christ is here to heal today
As on those shores of Galilee;
And they who scoff remain to pray
When Christ's great healing power they see.

Today Christ calls, "Arise and walk,
Thy sins are all forgiven thee."
And though the unbelieving talk,
God's glory shines as radiantly

As when the palsied man was healed
And took up that on which he lay,
His heart and lips by Love unsealed.
The scorners then remained to pray.

So now, the Christ, with healing sign,
Refutes each argument of scorn,
With grace and tenderness divine—
To us today, "a child is born."
