In 1924 I attended my first Wednesday evening testimony meeting in a Church of Christ, Scientist. I got so much from one of the testimonies I heard there that the next morning I cleared out my medicine cabinet and threw away everything it contained. Then with a sense of relief I stood in the middle of the room and said, "Dear God, I commit myself to You; I will be Yours alone."

In addition to many other ills, I was faced with an operation. A tumor had to be removed, but I had not yet decided to have it done. The doctor I had been consulting for two years had given me three more weeks to think it over. I asked God to show what way I should take and to put to silence all doubt.

My interest in Christian Science was very great. There was again a song on my lips and a cheerfulness in my heart which, because of my ills, I had not felt for years. At the end of the three weeks the physician examined me, and after a lengthy comparison of his findings with his previous records of my case, he said that neither outwardly nor inwardly would he have recognized me as the same person. This was to me conclusive proof of the healing power of Christian Science.
