GOD THE ONLY SOURCE OF HEALTH

Health , according to Christian Science, is one of God's perfect, essential, spiritual qualities. It is as necessary to man and the universe as are love, wisdom, understanding, being, purity. Health is a spiritual impartation of God and is revealed by the Christ, Truth, as ever operative, ever available, everywhere. Health does not pertain to matter, but to Mind. It is never absent from Mind's ideas although belief, blind to reality, may be unaware of its presence.

Health becomes evident as a permanent, spiritual fact of being as one turns from the belief in material existence to the understanding of man, made in the image and likeness of God. God, who is good only, does not and could not countenance sickness in Himself or in His ideas. As the Christ, Truth, turns human consciousness from faith in matter to the understanding of life in Spirit, health is revealed as the normal status of man.

Mary Baker Eddy writes in "The People's Idea of God" (p. 12): "Having faith in drugs and hygienic drills, we lose faith in omnipotence, and give the healing power to matter instead of Spirit. As if Deity would not if He could, or could not if He would, give health to man; when our Father bestows heaven not more willingly than health; for without health there could be no heaven." Jesus declared clearly that the kingdom of God is within us. Since health is included in heaven, health is reflected in us.
