THE POWER OF THE WORD

In a lecture a British nuclear physicist stated that atomic energy is by far the most powerful thing that has ever been discovered by mankind. He said that for thirty thousand years at least men have controlled fire. But he added that atomic energy is weight for weight approximately nine million times more powerful than material energy obtained by burning anything. A small atomic pile will be able to generate its heat for many, many years with very simple control. The lecturer continued by saying that the constructive use of atomic energy would touch the lives of every one of us, giving better and more comfortable living conditions.

Our inspired Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, saw far beyond the limits of human invention to the day when the kingdom of God would become established on earth and the power of God's Word would be the only power recognized. She writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 95), "We welcome the increase of knowledge and the end of error, because even human invention must have its day, and we want that day to be succeeded by Christian Science, by divine reality."

Christian Science reveals the truth regarding every thing and every situation. It shows us the great counterfacts, true, spiritual concepts, as opposed to counterfeit erroneous mortal beliefs. It teaches the absolute perfection of man in the image and likeness of God and his eternal dominion over all the earth. These great truths of being, when understood, are made manifest in human experience in salvation from untoward conditions.
