Progress of Jointly Maintained Reading Rooms

[Note: Extracts from reports prepared for the Reading Room Division by the committees responsible for the activity of three of these jointly maintained Reading Rooms]

Fort Worth, Texas

For the first time in the four and one half years since the opening of this Reading Room a written fruitage report was prepared for the members of the churches participating in its support. Two accounts which are included in this report follow:

A woman borrowed a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy from our lending library. When it became due, we reminded her that it was time to either return it or renew it. She said: "I couldn't return it. I am coming down to pay for it. I would not part with it for anything in the world!" She was told that the textbook belonged in the lending library, but that many other editions of Science and Health were on sale in the Reading Room and that we would be happy to sell her one and to show her how to study the Bible Lessons in the Christian Science Quarterly. Several days later she returned the borrowed book and purchased her own, expressing gratitude for the Reading Room.
