It gives me great joy indeed to submit this testimony of the healing and protection experienced during the time that I have had Christian Science. Most especially, I should like to relate an experience which was a marvelous demonstration of protection for a loved one.

This loved one, our daughter, who was not quite eighteen years of age, went to a large northern city to visit and obtained employment there. At first she sent us glowing reports that all was well with her, but it soon became apparent that she had suffered a mental breakdown. Long-distance calls from her at any hour, even late at night, indicated that she was not sleeping and that she was not in her room. These calls greatly increased our anguish at home.

The situation was complicated by the fact that, although she was 'unable to work, she was unwilling, in her state of mind, to return home. As she had become eighteen, it was impossible to compel her to do so. After two unsuccessful trips had been made to bring her home, it appeared that there was nothing that we could do for her protection and care.

When things were darkest I was asked by a friend whether or not I had gotten on my knees and prayed, "Father, Thy will be done." As soon as I reached home I did this. I also prayed the words our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, gives as a New Year's gift to the little children (Poems, p. 69),

"Father-Mother God,
Loving me,—
Guard me when I sleep;
Guide my little feet
Up to Thee."

This lovely prayer had been used by our child all her life, and I Knew that it would be heard now, in her hour of great need. It was, for the next day we were informed that she was being cared for and that we should come for her, which we did.

I do not know how I should have gone through this experience without the truths we learn in Christian Science. Especially comforting were the words from Isaiah (41:10), "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." Also, the ninety-first Psalm was a comfort, especially at night when suggestions of terror would assail me. The truths from the Bible and from the writings of our Leader operated as a law of protection and deliverance to our loved one, who has now entirely recovered from the disturbing condition. I am so profoundly grateful to God for this healing and for the practitioners who have worked for us at different times.

Our family has experienced healings of tumors, influenza, colds, children's diseases, and many other ills. My mother experienced a healing of a small growth on her back which had become sore and was discharging. After the healing, her back was perfectly smooth. I am grateful for the inestimable privilege of class instruction. For all this and much more I say, "Thank You, Father."—(Mrs.) Betty S. Fulcher, Athens, Georgia.
