Geneva, Illinois (First Church).

First Church of Christ, Scientist, Geneva, has completed its church structure and will dedicate the edifice on Sunday. March 7 [1954]. ... The church is located at 111 South Second Street in Geneva ...

The history of the church dates back to 1894 when a small group of people in Geneva formed a Christian Science Society. In 1897 [this society] organized a branch church of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. Meetings in the early days were held in rented halls until the present site was purchased. A building on the lot was remodeled into a church edifice in which services have been held since 1916. The present church is an extension of this original building and as now completed fulfills the plans of the early members.

In 1928 the members of Christian Science Society, St. Charles, joined with the Geneva church, a step which was followed some years later through similar action by the Christian Science church in Batavia. Since that time the Geneva church has served the entire tricities community.
