For a number of years I suffered from a very painful condition of the feet, for which I consulted several specialists, including an eminent foot surgeon. Plaster casts, metal plates, and other appliances were tried, but they did not even relieve the pain.

At this point in my experience Christian Science was presented to me. I called on a practitioner, frankly telling him that I lacked faith, but was willing to pay his fee to find out whether or not Christian Science really healed. He explained that this religion is not a faith cure, but a Science as exact as the science of mathematics; therefore, it is not dependent on faith alone but on a knowledge of the laws of God. The next time I thought of my feet the pain was gone, and it has never returned.

Later, chronic headaches of many years' standing were also healed. A severe case of tonsillitis was healed overnight. In spite of these healings I took little interest in Christian Science as a religion. At this point the practitioner said: "If you are interested only in physical healing, you might just as well use material medicine. You should study the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, 'Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures' by Mary Baker Eddy. Learn how to heal yourself and, better still, how to keep well." That remark of many years ago roused me to an earnest study of Christian Science. As a result, my life has been transformed, and Christian Science is my most valued guide and help in every department of my daily experience.
