My first healing was that of a disease of the stomach, from which I had suffered for many years. After the medical faculty had done all they could for me and had failed to relieve my suffering, much less heal me, I turned to Christian Science and was healed in one treatment.

The practitioner upon whom I called for help told me that the first chapter of Genesis contained the true record of creation, in which all that God made was good. She said that as a part of God's good creation I could neither be sick nor sinful, and that it was my fear of food which was the cause of my suffering. These words were spoken with such love and sincerity that I lost all my fear and went away happy, joyous, free.

I have been healed of deficient eyesight through studying and applying the definition of God given us on page 587 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. This definition reads in part, "The great I am; the all-knowing, all-seeing, all-acting, all-wise, all-loving, and eternal." I knew that as God's reflection I must possess the ability to see clearly. This healing enabled me to lay aside glasses and more easily study the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly: read the periodicals, including The Christian Science Monitor: and look up words in the Concordances and in dictionaries, thereby gaining the good I needed for true spiritual growth.
