I shall never cease to be grateful...

I shall never cease to be grateful to God for Christian Science and its power to heal, regenerate, and protect. This Science came to me at a time of extremity some nineteen years ago.

In my early life I felt susceptible to everything that was discordant. I was full of fear and lacking in many things, especially in an understanding of God. I suffered many ills, had numerous operations, was in hospital after hospital, and remained under a doctor's care continually. It appeared that I had no chance of experiencing good in any form, for I thought I had inherited an erroneous nature and had a penalty to pay as a result.

Through the study of Christian Science I learned that this was not true about my real self, the man of God's creating. I found in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, these words (p. 476): "Mortals are not fallen children of God. They never had a perfect state of being, which may subsequently be regained. They were, from the beginning of mortal history, 'conceived in sin and brought forth in iniquity.'" This appeared logical, and I began to reason from the standpoint of immortal man. I learned that God is the real man's Father as well as his Mother and that this man is of God's nature, therefore a spiritual idea.
