Korea—Healing of inflammation

While stationed in Korea a Christian Scientist who was an officer found one side of his face swollen and inflamed. Fever and chills seemed to accompany this condition. Although thinking of himself as God's reflection brought some relief, the officer found himself the next morning unable to leave his cot. His temperature was given as 104 by the medical officer who was called in and the condition declared serious. The Christian Scientist agreed to the request of the medical officer that he be removed to the division medical battalion, where he was taken on a stretcher. Several who knew of his case expressed concern and alarm over the condition.

The officer had a Bible and several writings of our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, with him, but seemed able to read only for a short period at a time from these books. He knew he must turn away from the testimony of the physical senses. As he did this he quietly thought over what he had learned about man as God's image and likeness, the perfect expression of perfect Life, Truth, and Love.
