Sixteen years ago Christian Science...

Sixteen years ago Christian Science was presented to me in such a way as to open wide a door to harmony which had seemed hopelessly closed. The truth that God made all and pronounced it good was made clear to me and answered my fervent prayer. I had earnestly pleaded to be shown the way to Truth, and I found it in that instant. During the succeeding years my thought has been gradually accepting more and more of the wonderful statements contained in the Bible and explained so truly by Mary Baker Eddy in her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."

Many healings have been experienced. Eye trouble of two years' duration yielded instantly with one treatment from a Christian Science practitioner. At her request I turned to the one hundred and twenty-first Psalm, and this gave me confidence that no harm could affect my eyes.

My daughter's arm, broken while she was on board ship, healed so completely that the surgeon who was consulted on arrival in port could not detect the break when it was X-rayed. The arm had been set by the ship's doctor, and a previous X ray had been made in Honolulu, clearly showing the break. At the time her accident occurred I was in Shanghai, while my daughter was en route to Canada. Being away from her at such a time caused me much mental strain. A very dear friend pointed out a well-loved passage from Mrs. Eddy's book, "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany (pp. 149, 150), "Remember, thou canst be brought into no condition, be it ever so severe, where Love has not been before thee and where its tender lesson is not awaiting thee." This brought much comfort, and the next morning I awoke with a great sense of peace and well-being, accompanied by a conviction that I would soon hear regarding my daughter. Before long a letter came from her, joyously telling me that the arm was well and that she was playing games and riding.
