Christian Science came into my life about seventeen years ago when my husband was in great need of help. He had undergone a major operation for a serious disease and suffered a complete breakdown in consequence. He had been unable to work for several years and had been given up by the doctor, who said he would never work again. But "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 494), and I am thankful that it met his need so fully that he was healed and able to work happily again.

I am deeply grateful to the several practitioners who helped us at different times during this period. We have had healings of chronic constipation, colds, influenza, and sick headaches. Grief was overcome when two loved ones passed on, and we were protected during the war period and in times of accident. I am grateful for lessons learned in overcoming in a measure faults of character, such as over-sensitiveness, self-consciousness, and resentment, and I am also grateful for the lessening of fear and for the ability to express more compassion and patience.

A healing of influenza stands out, as it was instantaneous. I was helping to look after a relative who had that complaint, and I must have let in thoughts of fear, for I began to manifest the same symptoms she had. I telephoned a practitioner, who lovingly said, "You cannot suffer for doing good." I knew this was true, for God sends only good to all His children. I was instantly healed and able to go about my household duties with a heart grateful to God.
