With sincere gratitude I wish to submit this testimony of the healing power of Christian Science. When I first began the study of Science I was suffering from what physicians diagnosed as tuberculosis with complications, and I was told that I would have to stay in bed for six months. With the loving and faithful help of my husband and a couple of loyal friends, I got up from my bed and became a regular attendant at church services and lectures. I did not understand much of what I read or heard, but I was nevertheless faithful and tried earnestly to progress.

Through the inspiration of Truth my health gradually improved, until one day I acknowledged to myself that I was healed. After many more trials everything I read and heard suddenly took on new meaning, and I realized that I had found the way of Truth and that I was really being born again. I am grateful for the loving patience of the practitioner, who always encouraged me to press on in the truth.

There came a time when my being newborn was manifested in a desire to unite with a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. This right desire grew until it superseded the false desire for tobacco, and I then relinquished a smoking habit of long standing. Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health (p. 35), "We can unite with this church only as we are newborn of Spirit, as we reach the Life which is Truth and the Truth which is Life by bringing forth the fruits of Love,—casting out error and healing the sick."
