INFINITE OPPORTUNITY

Students of Christian Science find increased enlightenment in a study of the word infinite, used so frequently by their beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, throughout her writings. A dictionary definition of "infinite" is "without limits," and the word and its derivatives are used by Christian Scientists to express the nature of God. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 249), "God is the infinite, and infinity never began, will never end, and includes nothing unlike God."

God is all–inclusive Principle, omnipotence or all–power, omniscience or all true knowledge, omnipresence or all–presence; and the one word which expresses and includes all that is meant by these terms is "infinite." God is Mind, and Mind is unlimited in its activity and expression and has unlimited reserves of everything needful for man's completeness and perfection. In her sermon "Christian Healing" Mrs. Eddy says (p. 19), "Tireless Being, patient of man's procrastination, affords him fresh opportunities every hour."

The beauty and harmony expressed in painting and music have their true source in infinite Mind; consequently the artist or composer need have no sense of limitation in finding new subjects for his canvas or new melodies for his instrument. Inventive genius is likewise an expression of Mind and therefore is unlimited. The inventor who is aware of this spiritual fact and looks to infinite Mind for guidance in developing the mechanical devices and constructive processes which unfold to his receptive thought will never lack for ideas with which to work.
