As I read a testimony of healing in The Herald of Christian Science (French Edition) my attention was attracted to these words: "Support of our periodicals calls for the sending of testimonies and articles." Since I found Christian Science eight years ago in Buenos Aires, I have had and witnessed so many blessings that I must testify to my deep gratitude for the great lessons learned through the study of this Science.

I believed myself to be surrounded by a hostile world and spent my time in taking care of myself, in complaining, and in self-condemnation. I clung desperately to human doctrines and philosophy and lived as a prisoner to the material senses, not knowing how to get out of this prison. I read the Bible, the Gospel of John in particular, but did not understand its profound meaning.

At that time, in the darkest hours, the light came. A woman who was not a Scientist but who had heard of Christian Science as being something remarkable took me to a Sunday morning service in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. I did not understand English, save for a few words; but what impressed me was the harmony, kindliness, and order which prevailed in the church. The words that opened the prison doors for me were these from "the scientific statement of being" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 468): "Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual."
