While in a Christian Science...

While in a Christian Science Reading Room recently I opened at random a bound volume of the Sentinel to my first printed testimony, telling of my having been healed by Christian Science twenty-one years previous to its publication. As another twenty-one years has elapsed since the testimony was published, it seems in order to again express my deep gratitude in our periodicals.

During this period of time only once have I been incapable of going about my duties at home and in the branch Church of Christ, Scientist, which I had joined. I experienced a long period of fever, through which my husband nursed me. After the battle had been won I was better and stronger in every way and reach to apply the truth in helping others. Much gratitude is mine that all my family embraced Christian Science.

One night on my way to church I stopped to see a friend. Upon finishing my call I opened the outer door and in some way caught my foot and plunged down a flight of twelve concrete steps. As I fell this angel thought came: "This is not happening to man." I had for many years recognized man's true selfhood as the spiritual embodiment of right ideas, which cannot fall. No bruise or hurt resulted. At another time I was in a friend's new home and opened a door thinking it was the one to the closet where my hat and coat were hung. Instead, it was the door to a dark stairway which led to the basement. As I felt myself stepping into space I heard mvself say, "Thank God." With these words I was immediately led to reach back and grasp the doorknob. My footing was regained and a dangerous fall averted.
