Throughout the Bible we are constantly assured of God's guidance and protection. I wish to express my gratitude for the instances in which these blessings have been afforded me and my family since we began to study Christian Science.

We have had many healings and have been protected many times, but there is one outstanding experience which I am especially grateful for. A few years ago while on a motor trip to a distant state we decided to drive at night instead of waiting until morning, as our time was limited. After driving several hours over an unfamiliar road, we suddenly came to a crossroad. The driver of our car did not see the stop sign and so did not observe it.

Another car coming on the crossroad could not stop in time to avoid a collision. It hit us with such force that both cars were badly damaged; neither one could be driven. In the two cars there were eleven persons, two of whom were Christian Scientists. No one was injured. I knew that, as Mrs. Eddy tells us (Science and Health, p. 424), "Under divine Providence there can be no accidents, since there is no room for imperfection in perfection." There were suggestions to arrest the driver of our car, but I am grateful to say that through the loving help of a practitioner and our own understanding of the truth the driver was not arrested, and the situation was adjusted in a most harmonious way. One person who had witnessed what had happened said that there had been numerous accidents at that place but this one was the first that had been followed by an agreeable settlement.
