A profound sense of gratitude for what Christian Science has done and is doing for me and for the world prompts me to submit this testimony. The first healing I experienced came through my reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

For about ten years I had been a semi-invalid, due to nervousness, stomach ulcers, and tuberculosis. Kindly physicians did what they could according to approved medical practices. When they could do no more a friend loaned me a copy of the textbook. I read it constantly during the day and most of the night. In one week I was able to retain any kind of food and was healed of constipation; in six weeks I was able to return to the position which I had been compelled to leave nine months before. All the manifestations of the diseases had disappeared.

Although the healing was amazing to me, about one year elapsed before all fears were eradicated from my consciousness. During that year, through systematic study of the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, I gained a wholly new light on the meaning of the Scriptures, learned the joy which comes from regular attendance at church services, and gained an abiding sense of God's nearness. This healing occurred thirty-two years ago and has been followed by many other healing experiences, all of which have contributed to my ever-deepening appreciation of our Way-shower, Christ Jesus, and of our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who followed his example so closely.
