It is with great joy that I express...
It is with great joy that I express gratitude for Christian Science. I am especially grateful for the blessing of membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, as well as for a larger understanding of Truth, which all may receive through the daily study of the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly, given to us by our Leader, Mrs. Eddy. I am deeply grateful to God for His goodness and to Christ Jesus for his great love for mankind.
I was healed of grief at the time of the sudden passing on of my father. I did not know which way to turn, as I was very young and the world seemed very large. The following Wednesday I was led to go to a testimony meeting at a Church of Christ, Scientist, and as I listened to the singing of the hymns I found a degree of comfort. Then in my childish way I asked God to send someone to explain the truth to me. As I was walking home from church a woman came to me and said, "I saw you in church tonight." What a wonderful feeling came over me as we talked of God and of His love for His children. Then she said, "Young lady, aren't you walking out of your way?" I replied, "Yes, but I want to hear more of the truth you are telling me of." As I left her I found that I was singing all the songs which I could think of, for I did not know any hymns. That was the end of my sense of grief.
At another time I was in a strange city and was trying to find a place to live. As I went to the store one day I was conscious that someone was trying to attract my attention with a car horn. As I left the store a woman called to me, and when I responded she said, "How would you like to have a little house for six months with free rent? I have a friend who wants to help someone, and when I saw you in church the thought came to me that you might be the one who would like to have it." I thought for a moment then said, "This is an answer to my prayers." You may well know the joy and inspiration that came to me. A few hours later I moved into this house; and it seemed as though divine Love had opened the windows of heaven, for my human need was met in this little home.
