Too long have I delayed expressing my gratitude for the main blessings Christian Science has brought and is bringing me daily. It was my privilege to grow up in a home where this religion was radically relied upon for the solving of every problem. I also had the benefit of the Sunday School for a number of years. This background has meant much to me, and the more I study the writings of our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, the more grateful to God I am for my early training.

During my childhood the diseases common to children were met quickly. Often the symptoms disappeared almost as soon as they appeared. Ivy poisoning, however. recurred throughout my high school days. Each spring it made its appearance. Treatment was asked for, and soon all evidence of the disease was gone.

In my senior year the attack was more severe than it had ever been before. Near the end of my second week at home it was lovingly pointed out to me that the time had come for me to do some mental work myself and that I could no longer depend entirely on another's work. Many truths were brought to my attention which could be used to advantage, and then I was left to ponder what had been said. This call to duty was all that was needed. By the next day I was much improved, and within a few days I was able to dress and return to school. Twice after this the symptoms of ivy poisoning appeared, but as I realized the importance of working for myself and of standing firm in the truths I knew, the error was quickly routed. For over twenty years I have had complete freedom from the annoying condition and am free to enjoy the outdoors at any season of the year.
