I should like to acknowledge my...
I should like to acknowledge my gratitude for Christian Science. At the age of twelve I began attending a Christian Science Sunday School, and the happy times I had and the wonderful truths learned there have never been forgotten.
Among my many blessings are several healings that come to my mind, including those of quinsy and mumps. These two healings occurred when I was evacuated with my schoolmates from London during World War II and was billeted with some people who, though very kind, were nevertheless opposed to what they thought was Christian Science and insisted on calling a doctor when I contracted a case of quinsy. No medical treatment was given, however, and I was healed in two days through reliance on Christian Science. When I had mumps I suffered very little discomfort and was able to eat and enjoy my meals. This difficulty too was soon healed through Science.
At one time my hair began to fall out, leaving bald patches. A practitioner lovingly gave me help, reminding me that the quotation (Matt. 10:30), "The very hairs of your head are all numbered," meant that every detail of my true, spiritual being was known to God and was therefore forever complete and safe. This reminder quickly healed the physical condition, although a hairdresser had told me that it would be months before it would be healed.
