DELIVERANCE THROUGH SPIRITUALITY

"There was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it: now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man." So we read in the ninth chapter of Ecclesiastes.

Today it is not a little city so much as a large world which, encompassed about as it is by aggressive mental suggestions of unrest, insecurity, and fear, needs such deliverance. Indeed, world citizens everywhere, beset by the mental arrows of aggression, hatred, disunity, disease, and death, are seeking this liberation. Thanks be to God, instead of comporting themselves as beleaguered victims in a weak fortress, those who understand the revelation of Christian Science can now act as strong, spiritually armed men and women and aid in putting this foe to confusion and flight.

Freedom from evil and its prisoning fears has been made possible by the divinely bestowed wisdom of a pure woman, Mary Baker Eddy. Unlike the poor wise man, she is gratefully remembered by large numbers of people who have been healed, transformed, and delivered from the besetments of evil through grasping the true idea of God's allness presented in her published writings. Thus in our time the individual possessed of the realization of the omnipotence of good can deliver himself and aid in delivering humanity from the false belief that evil has power, presence, or reality.
