It
is the Christian Scientist's joyous privilege, as well as his solemn duty, to obey, and to be protected by, the Rules and By-Laws of the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science.
"There
was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it: now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man.
When
Christ Jesus was instructing the Jews who believed on him as to how they could gain freedom, he prefaced his remark with this important statement.
As
one experiences in Christian Science the vision of the Christ, which presents the spiritual idea of God and man's true being, he learns that this Science is a religion of works and not words, a religion to be demonstrated.
Applications for membership in The Mother Church are acted upon by The Christian Science Board of Directors twice each year as provided for in the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy, Article XIII, Section 2.
