Many years ago a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy was given me. On the flyleaf the donor had written, "Love never faileth," and I can truthfully say it has never failed me.

God's love for His children has been proved to me many times. Because of an injury suffered at the birth of our son, the doctor predicted that I would be crippled for life. Six months later, through Christian Science treatment, I was completely healed and was swimming, riding horseback, and iceskating, in addition to walking long distances. When our son was nine months old, a pharyngeal abscess burst, affecting his lung, and at the same time he developed whooping cough. Specialists, called for consultation by his grandparents, said he could not possibly live more than two hours. But by our clinging steadfastly to the promises made in the Gospel of John (14:16–18, 27) the child was completely healed.

When he was three years old another condition developed, and again we were told that he could not live through the day. Diligent work in Christian Science and complete refusal to accept such a verdict resulted in healing. Within a matter of hours after the physician left, the child ate a hearty meal and was running and playing about. Following this experience, my husband, who had been a medical student, and who was then doing work on the staff of one of our largest universities in connection with diseases, began attending church services and later had class instruction.
