EVERLASTING LIFE

The crowning point in the healing ministry of Christ Jesus was his demonstration of everlasting life. From first to last the Master proved his teaching by healing. He said (John 5:21), "As the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will;" and he proved his assertion by restoring the daughter of Jairus and the son of the widow of Nain and raising Lazarus from the dead.

Jesus' sayings were never empty words, but promises which he knew he could fulfill. His mission on earth was to teach all mankind how to rise above materialism through the understanding of man's spiritual and eternal existence. He said (John 17:3), "This is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." Merely believing in Christ Jesus does not make one capable of doing his mighty works. God must be understood, that the Christ may be revealed in individual consciousness.

We are all the sons of God. Jesus understood his own sonship with the Father and refused to let anything deprive him of his inheritance. Through the teachings of Mary Baker Eddy the works of Christ Jesus are being repeated today. Christian Scientists realize that right now man expresses and reflects eternal Life; that he is never outside infinity, never separated from God, his divine source, never in any condition where the love of God is not present and active to heal and to save.
