The first healing in our family...

The first healing in our family through Christian Science was the restoration to health of my mother after the doctors had despaired of her ever again being strong and well. Because of this healing, I had the great privilege of being reared in this Science. I have never had a doctor's care or taken medicine, but have relied on God alone and have enjoyed sound health all my life. Members of our family have been healed of stomach ulcers, granulated eyelids, high blood pressure, a gangrenous infection, smallpox, measles, influenza, and other ills.

The earnest study of this wonderful religion and the application of its truths have brought me freedom, harmony, abundant supply, happiness, and joy, as well as release from fear. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy, speaking of Christian Science, tells us (p. 114), "It shows the scientific relation of man to God, disentangles the interlaced ambiguities of being, and sets free the imprisoned thought." Many errors of disposition and temperament imprisoned me, and freedom from these and mental purification, regeneration, and healing are to me the greatest of all gifts Christian Science has bestowed upon me. The change in my way of living has been like walking out of darkness into the sunlight.

The most difficult problem I ever faced was the illness and passing of a loved member of my family. I was able to carry on my daily duties, though for many months I rarely had a normal night's rest. When the mental strain seemed beyond endurance and symptoms of nervous breakdown appeared, I was strengthened and sustained by the power of God.
