When Christian Science was first presented to me, I had been ill for over three years with gastric ulcers, constantly in pain, and never able to eat the food that other people did. I had trained as a medical nurse and knew many of the leading physicians and surgeons. They did all that they could to help me, and I was constantly in hospitals having treatment, but like the woman in the Scriptures, I "was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse." In this extremity I took up the study of Christian Science and asked for help from a practitioner. I was completely healed. I cannot tell of the wonderful sense of gratitude that came to me when I realized that I was healed, that all pain was gone, and that I was able to have any food that I desired. This occurred over twenty years ago, and the healing has been permanent.

A few years ago I had a healing of a broken arm. I was unable to move any of the fingers on my left hand; both bones of the forearm were broken above the wrist. This did not perturb me in any way, for I had confidence in the truth found in "the scientific statement of being" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 468), "Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual."

I asked for help from a practitioner, and the first night there was some pain when I moved quickly, but after that I slept peacefully every night and had no more pain. My sister took me to her home, and thinking to help me, put on a splint and put the arm in a sling. I submitted to this without much thought, but on the third day it came to me how wonderful it was to be able to depend only upon our Father-Mother God.
