Christian Science has brought to me joy, health, and a peace that passes all human understanding. This truth came to me in answer to prayer during a wakeful night following the verdict given by several doctors that I must not hope to again be well, for I was suffering from advanced tuberculosis. They advised immediate hospitalization and treatment in a sanatorium.

Friends called the next day, and I found myself repeating what the doctors had said. Then, as though a heavy curtain had been pulled aside in my darkened thought, I found myself saying, in a voice I scarcely recognized as my own, "But Christian Science heals, doesn't it?" These friends were students of Christian Science, and I then realized that their presence was in answer to my prayer, that these dear friends were sent to me in my hour of great need. They assured me I could be healed. The doctors were lovingly dismissed, a Christian Science practitioner was called, and intensive study was eagerly commenced.

Soon a peace and joy I had not known before began to envelop me, and I gained strength I had not had for some time. Shortly thereafter I was able to take my meals with my family, and in a few weeks I was attending services at a local Christian Science church. I was able to ascend the many steps leading to the auditorium by giving thanks that others had been healed and knowing that "God is no respecter of persons" (Acts 10:34); and I felt the wonderful assurance that I too would be healed.
