Since I have received so much...
Since I have received so much inspiration and help from the testimonies in the periodicals, I feel compelled to add my words of gratitude. As a youngster I had many proofs of God's loving protection and care. Although I always turned to God in my extremity, it was not until I went to college and was on my own that I realized Christian Science is not only a help when in trouble, but also a practical, reliable, absolute Science of harmony which is within the reach of each individual.
While playing football I was kicked in the head, which caused a fracture. Instead of going to the hospital, I called for Christian Science help. I spent the evening at the practitioner's home. All fear was removed, and through the love and confidence which the practitioner expressed, I was able to place my trust in infinite good. I was completely healed and never suffered any discomfort from this experience. This healing awakened in me the desire to know God better and to listen for His voice. It taught me to rely more on God in all my daily work.
I began to be consistent in studying the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and many demonstrations followed. Although I arrived at college with less than a year's tuition, I was able to complete the four years' course. Perfect health was demonstrated, and I did not miss any classes during this time. One day I found that I had but two hours in which to cover approximately two hundred and fifty pages of concentrated material in preparation for an oral examination. It was hopeless to even try to skim through this in two hours, and a great sense of fear came over me, as this test meant quite a lot to me. Knowing there was only one place to turn to, I took from my pocket a copy of Science and Health, which was my daily companion, and read on page 469: "Intelligence is omniscience, omnipresence, and omnipotence. It is the primal and eternal quality of infinite Mind, of the triune Principle,—Life, Truth, and Love,—named God."
