Williams, California (Society).

It was a happy moment for the members of Christian Science Society, Williams, when they dedicated their new church edifice on Sunday, April 23, 1950. Services were held in the morning and afternoon. The First Reader read a brief historical sketch of the local organization which follows.

"In 1915 a small group of people interested in the teachings of Christian Science began meeting in various homes of the group. At one time services were held in the former Williams Hotel. In about 1930 space was rented in the I. O. O. F. Building, and services continued there until the present edifice was completed. In October, 1946, steps were made to organize, and in June, 1947, the group was recognized as a society, a branch of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. In December, 1947, property on the corner of Eighth and H Streets was purchased, and plans were begun to build a church edifice. Building operations began on March 30, 1949, and the first church services were held in the new building on October 9, 1949."
