One of the many glorious opportunities...

One of the many glorious opportunities which come to a Christian Scientist is that of helping the stranger to know the absolute regeneration this beautiful religion brings, and it is therefore with joy that I offer this testimony.

A healing I have always been most grateful for is that of impetigo. It occurred during the last war, when I was serving in the Women's Royal Naval Service on a small coastal intelligence station with about fifteen other girls. For some time past I had not been at all happy, and one morning I awoke with unsightly spots all over my face. That day I tried to handle the problem to the best of my understanding in Christian Science, but the following day, when the condition seemed no better, I knew I should have to report to the Naval Medical Officer. On my way through the town to the Naval Base I was able to telephone for help from a practitioner, which was lovingly given.

At the Naval Base they told me that I had impetigo and that I ought to go to an isolation hospital. I prayed most deeply that the disease would be healed, and almost immediately the orderly said the hospital was full of wounded men and there would be no room for me there. He added that I ought to see the Medical Officer, but he was at the hospital. Then he told me to get some ointment from the dispensary and put this on the spots, as, he warned me, they would rapidly cover the whole of my body. I took the ointment, but of course I did not use it, and the spots did not spread at all. In a little under a week all the spots were gone except one, and the doctors said they would give me ultraviolet ray treatment for that and told me to come back in another week.
