HOW TO BE PRESENT WITH THE LORD

THE Psalmist exclaims (16:11), "In thy presence is fulness of joy;" and the Apostle Paul writes (II Cor. 5:8), "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord."

Some people say, "When I forget about myself, my body, I feel better." Some seek to forget themselves through idle gossip, false appetites and pleasures. Others, higher in thought, try to escape from their own thinking and problems through hobbies or travel, or through personal friendships. To be truly absent from the body and present with the Lord, or God, however, we must go further.

The student of Christian Science turns to his textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, to learn how to be present with God. Through its study he gains an ever clearer understanding of Him and of His spiritual creation. He fills his thought with the truth of the oneness, or unity, of God and man; the perfection of Principle and its idea, man; and the presence of harmonious being.
