THE SEED WITHIN ITSELF

As one studies the Bible together with "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, he gains a fuller understanding that just as surely as God has created man and the universe, just so surely has He provided for their every need. In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy writes (pp. 510, 511): "Science reveals only one Mind, and this one shining by its own light and governing the universe, including man, in perfect harmony. This Mind forms ideas, its own images, subdivides and radiates their borrowed light, intelligence, and so explains the Scripture phrase, 'whose seed is in itself.' Thus God's ideas 'multiply and replenish the earth.' The divine Mind supports the sublimity, magnitude, and infinitude of spiritual creation."

In view of these definite statements that God is capable of maintaining His ideas, why does it sometimes seem a never-ending struggle to maintain existence? Simply because men have not understood the relationship of man to God. It must be remembered that for centuries the thought of men has been clouded by false education, ignorance, and superstition. They have accepted many theories pertaining to so-called material life with its birth and death. Christ Jesus taught and practiced the truths of being, but not until about seventy years ago were these truths again reiterated and proved.

Because of the purity and compassionate love of our Leader, we have the privilege of learning our true identity and birthright through the study and application of Christian Science. Thus we are led from uncertainty, bewilderment, imperfection, to the cognizance of spiritual selfhood, to the realization that we do not have to wait for some future day, but can here and now begin to understand and demonstrate the truth of being.
