THE POINT OF DEMONSTRATION

"Oh that I knew where I might find him! that I might come even to his seat!" cried Job (23:3). Such longing is re-echoed today by many who, fretting over the seemingly unyielding nature of some problem, wonder why the answer has not been found. Yet the obtaining of answers to problems in the field of metaphysics is commensurate with the understanding of the laws involved, as in mathematics. In Christian Science we must find the point of demonstration in the solving of our problems through the attainment of the understanding of the perfection of God and man, however much or little time or work may be required to reach it.

In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy explains in simple terms the process by which the point of demonstration is reached in any problem. She says (p. 406): "The Science of being unveils the errors of sense, and spiritual perception, aided by Science, reaches Truth. Then error disappears."

There is no evidence in this terse but revealing statement to indicate that Spirit takes cognizance of matter in any form. To demonstrate Christian Science we must rise into the realization of God's presence and allness. Through this change from the human to the divine we lose sight of any sense of something to be healed or corrected, and this is the point of demonstration which is followed by the meeting of the human need.
