Fear and pain are destroyed; invalid recovers health

Gratitude for all that my family and I have been privileged to experience in Christian Science prompts this public expression of my thanks.

About thirty years ago I had to undergo a major operation. On my discharge from the hospital, the physician under whose treatment I was, told me what I should do and what I should avoid doing, so that finally, instead of getting better, I looked into the future with great fear.

A friend who saw my need occasionally lent me a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, until I purchased the book myself. On reading the chapter entitled "Christian Science Practice," a light gradually dawned on me, until one day I stopped taking the baths and so forth which the doctor had ordered. But the fear persisted.
