GOD'S GIFT

We seemed to live within a crumbling world
Where honest work brought no abiding gain
And where, adventuring, all our schemes were hurled
As dust to dust—our labor spent in vain.
Then in this need came answer to our prayer;
Our eyes were opened to a brighter view:
The beauteous things of Life, Truth, Love were there,
Healing, transforming, resurrecting—new!

Within the Science of God's law we find
Man and the universe reflecting good.
No erring, restless thought, but perfect Mind
Establishes our way—and where we stood
Once held in pride and gripped with mortal fear
We see the fruit of Spirit, Soul, appear.
