Tumor vanishes as prejudice is healed

It is with a heart overflowing with gratitude for the many blessings I have received through the study and application of Christian Science that I submit the following testimony.

Many years ago a member of my family was healed of an abdominal tumor. After examinations by well-known surgeons in Boston, she was told that an immediate operation would be necessary if she hoped to live. After all arrangements had been made for her to enter a hospital for treatment, a friend who had been healed through Christian Science of the same trouble asked her to give Christian Science a trial before submitting to the operation. The idea was accepted, and the services of a practitioner were sought and lovingly given. The healing was not an instantaneous one, because a sense of prejudice in the thought of the one seeking help had first to be erased. Mrs. Eddy says on page 450 of Science and Health: "Some people yield slowly to the touch of Truth. Few yield without a struggle, and many are reluctant to acknowledge that they have yielded; but unless this admission is made, evil will boast itself above good." In a short time a healing of the prejudice and a humble acknowledgment of the healing power of Christian Science took place, together with a complete and permanent healing of the physical difficulty. This unfoldment of God's care and protection has been convincing proof to me that the only operation is the operation of God's law.

Since childhood I have experienced many demonstrations of the healing power of the truth when applied as we are taught by our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy. I have been healed of eczema, influenza, sprained ankle, and streptococcal throat. The last seemed particularly vicious one evening, and as I appeared to be giving in to the last enemy, I called for help just as the practitioner was leaving his home to read from the desk at a Wednesday evening meeting. In fifteen minutes the fever had abated, and a Christian Science nurse in attendance at the time said she saw the flush leave my face as the fever disappeared. Within an hour I was quite comfortable, went to sleep, and slept undisturbed through the night. The next afternoon I went on the bus to the practitioner's office. In a day or two there was a complete healing of this trouble, and there has never been any return of it.
