Gratitude for healing of organic disorder and diphtheria

With gratitude to God and to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for what Christian Science has done for me, I send this testimony.

When I was suffering from an illness which was causing me great pain and a sense of weakness which made me feel that I could not live any longer, a Christian Science Sentinel was handed to me. When I read the testimonies I began to take a great interest in this Science. The physician in the hospital had attributed my trouble to misplaced organs and said that it was imperative that an operation be performed at once, I realized that if God healed other sufferers without operations. He could heal me. I asked a friend to telephone to a practitioner for help, and I was healed instantaneously. That was thirteen years ago, and the healing has been permanent.

One day my daughter returned from school with a fever accompanied by a sore throat. I did all I could to unsee the error, as I had been taught in Christian Science. The third night she grew worse and could not breathe through her nostrils. I sent for a physician, who stated that he feared it was diphtheria. After he had gone, I went to a neighbor's to telephone to a practitioner. She told me not to fear, for she would give help at once. On returning, I found my daughter sitting up in bed, the fever gone. She said that her sore throat was gone and that she was hungry.
