True sympathy includes no grief. Mourning is abolished by Truth
THE COMFORTER
The human Jesus demonstrated supremely the divinity of the Christ by his practice and proof of the healing truth among men. In John, chapters 14 to 17, is to be found his inspiring farewell to the apostles.
Tenderly consoling their troubled hearts, he promised them something far greater than the presence of a personal Saviour—namely, the Christ, or Comforter, which would never leave them or his followers to come. He said further (John 14:26), "The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." And so it proved on the day of Pentecost when the Holy Ghost descended upon them.
This Comforter, Holy Ghost, or "Spirit of truth," was revealed to this age when Mary Baker Eddy discovered and established the Science of Christianity. Its truths, demonstrable by way of stated rules, she has set forth in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." In this textbook she emphatically declares (p. 127): "Science is an emanation of divine Mind, and is alone able to interpret God aright. It has a spiritual, and not a material origin. It is a divine utterance, —the Comforter which leadeth into all truth."
