SCIENTIFIC DEMONSTRATION

Demonstration is a subject dear to the heart of the student of Christian Science, for a demonstration, as the term is used in this Science, is a proof that he is awakening from a false, mortal sense of existence and beginning to behold creation as God made it, spiritual, harmonious, and immortal.

"Demonstrate" means to prove, and it is obvious that the term should be used thoughtfully in its relation to that which is provable. For instance, we should not carelessly believe that we have demonstrated some material thing, such as a new house or a large income. Rather should we recognize that we have demonstrated or proved spiritual facts, or divine laws, or the eternal Principle of being. To human sense, such demonstration appears as the healing of discordant conditions, for the false mortal sense is improved by the conscious presence of spiritual concepts. The so-called mortal man becomes less mortal.

Mary Baker Eddy, the revered Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, revealed certain profound spiritual facts which have always existed, but of which the so-called human mind needs to become conscious. These facts include the oneness and allness of God, divine Mind; the perfection of Mind's creation; and the unity of God and man as Mind and its idea, inseparable as cause and effect. Christian Science demonstrates the presence and reality of these mighty, irrefutable facts. It brings to light the invariable law of Life, Spirit, Mind, controlling and governing God's spiritual universe—the law which invariably annuls all so-called laws of matter.
