I give thanks to God daily for...
I give thanks to God daily for Mary Baker Eddy and for all pioneers and faithful students of Christian Science.
In 1938 a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy was lent me, and from the commencement of my reading this book I felt the wonderful regenerating power of Truth. All tiredness left me, and ulcers in my mouth, which had troubled me for years, disappeared and never returned. For the past nine years there has never been a day when I could not fulfill all my obligations.
Having tried nearly all the patent medicines I saw advertised, I now began to realize that I had suffered from all I had feared. It was indeed a happy day when first I read the words (I John 4:18): "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear. ... He that feareth is not made perfect in love." It is indeed true that "Love is the liberator," as our Leader says on page 225 of Science and Health.
Never can I be grateful enough for the protection afforded me during the bombing of this city. Also my son was one of thirty-eight men who were rescued after thirty-seven days in an open boat.
I am most grateful for membership in The Mother Church, for active membership in a branch church, and for class instruction, which are all steppingstones on our journey from sense to Soul.— (Mrs.) Doris Hirst, Coventry, Warwickshire, England.
I am happy to confirm my friend's testimony and also to express my gratitude to Christian Science for all the blessings that it has brought into my experience. It has healed me of sorrow, also of gastric ulcers of the stomach and bowels. It is a great joy to me to understand more clearly each day the declaration in Mrs. Eddy's "scientific statement of being" (Science and Health, p. 468), "All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all." For the literature, the practitioners, and all that Christian Science stands for I am profoundly grateful.
