IMPORTANCE OF THE INDIVIDUAL IN CREATION

God , divine Mind, is infinite individuality and includes within Himself the individuality of every one of His perfect spiritual ideas. Since the individuality of every idea of God is inherent in divine Mind, the qualities and characteristics of its individuality originate in this Mind and are inseparable from it. Every idea, from the least to the greatest, is a distinct and individual reflection or manifestation of God. Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 513), "Spirit diversifies, classifies, and individualizes all thoughts, which are as eternal as the Mind conceiving them; but the intelligence, existence, and continuity of all individuality remain in God, who is the divinely creative Principle thereof."

The infinite individuality of Spirit would be a nonentity without its expression, manifestation, or individualization, named man. Likewise man could not exist as idea, except in the one infinite Mind. In this oneness, Mind is always the primitive, or cause, and man the derivative, or effect.

In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy uses the term "man" in three different ways. She employs it in its generic sense as a name for the compound idea of God, which includes all right ideas.
